Opinion: Pacquiao May Drop Floyd Mayweather, Jr. for Good

WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao will most likely decide to formally drop Floyd Mayweather. Jr.as his next opponent after his clash with Clottey. Pacquiao said Mayweather may be afraid to face him and risk his zero-loss career record.
WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao may no longer face the undefeated American boxer Floyd Mayweather, Jr. this year as the Filipino boxing superstar maintained that the trash-talking Mayweather will continue to avoid him in order to preserve his zero defeat record.

Early in the week Pacquiao was quoted to have said that Mayweather may be afraid to face him after all. Pacquiao's promoter Bob Arum has been saying all along that Mayweather is more concerned about keeping his zero loss record than fighting the pound for pound king even for a huge payout estimated at $25 million.

While Pacquiao is favored to win over Joshua Clottey in their March 13 super fight in Arlington, Texas, Shane Mosley will try to give his best to snatch a victory over Mayweather, Jr.in their separate duel in Las Vegas on May 1 for a crack at the pound -for-pound king. If Shane Mosley wins, he will be transformed into a formidable boxer for breaking Mayweather's zero loss professional boxing record.

A win by Manny Pacquiao and Shane Mosley over their respected opponents will most likely result into a mega fight between these two great boxers and it will most likely happen towards the end of the year.

If the Pacquiao-Mosley fight indeed happens within the year, Mayweather could miss the opportunity of facing Pacquiao for a mega bucks fight as the Filipino boxing icon may finally decide to retire from professional boxing on a winning mode. Back in his home country, the popular Filipino boxer has earlier filed his candidacy for a congressional seat in his southern Philippines district of Sarangani.

If he wins in the election, he will transform into a neophyte politician and he might give up boxing for good. If this happens, Mayweather will most likely miss one big opportunity in his boxing career to face one of the world's greatest boxers in the person of Manny Pacquiao.
