Filipino boxer Mark Jason Melligen moves closer to his dream of one day becoming a world champion with his victory over Mexico's Norberto Gonzales via a unanimous decision at the Hard Rock Cafe and Casino Saturday night

Filipino welterweight boxer Mark Jason Melligen wins over Mexico's Norberto Gonzales via a 10-round unanimous decision at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada Saturday night.

From round one and throughout the fight Melligen was clearly in command with only a few rounds showing Gonzales dominating but overall it was a clear victory for the Filipino boxer

Scores of 100-90 across the board were all read in Melligen’s favor as he improves his record to 18-2 with 13 knockouts. Gonzalez falls to 18-2 with 12 stoppages.

It was an impressive win for Melligen, who earlier this week had stated that he would love a crack at fellow welterweight hopeful Alfonso Gomez, who defeated Jose Luis Castillo last month.

Earlier, Norberto Gonzales vowed to avenge Manny Pacquiao wins over popular Mexican boxers like Erik Morales, Marco Antonio Barrera, Juan Manuel Marquez, and Juan Diaz by beating Filipino southpaw, Mark Jason Melligen on Saturday night. These Mexican boxers have been knocked down and beaten by the popular Filipino boxer Manny Pacquiao.

The Filipino boxer has a professional record of 18 wins against two losses, while the Mexican boxer has now a professional record of 18 wins and two losses, from a single loss before his fight with Melligen.
